Female Physiology and Training

  • Kettlefit North Fitzroy 646 Nicholson Street Fitzroy North, VIC, 3068 Australia (map)

Female physiology is so much more than just "women's issues". How women respond to training and nutrition differs from men in some significant ways, but with the bulk of research traditionally being focussed solely on males, women have been left short changed in terms of female specific information.

Luckily, this is changing.

The latest research on female physiology is challenging the way we approach training and nutrition for women, and giving women fantastic tools and insights into how their bodies function.

This 2-hour session will review the latest and best research on how to best work with female physiology for better performance and overall health, including:

  • How female physiology impacts muscle, fat mass and bone density across the menstrual cycle and into menopause.

  • Managing energy levels by working with your physiology and not against it.

  • Using the menstrual cycle to schedule training and help avoid injury.

  • "Brain fog" and how to work with the nervous system for improved brain function.

  • Common training, nutrition and recovery advice that is actually counterproductive for women's physiology.

  • The different ways in which intermittent fasting affects women as compared to men, and why time-restricted eating is a far more effective option for women.

  • Temperature regulation and recovery strategies.

  • Nutrition and life hacks to help improve your training and health outcomes.
